After the dark days of the war the people of Annecy returned to their peaceful lives
Annecy after the war - Introduction
The largest single source of information for this story has been the archives of SILA, the organisation set up to safeguard Lake Annecy, to which I was kindly allowed access in the spring of 2016, and whose staff have given much support throughout the preparation of this website. Their material forms the basis of most of this section.
Apart from those already mentioned, the only other extended account of the story of Lake Annecy which I have found was a thesis written by Cécile Pietu during her studies at Lyon University. It forms the basis of Chapter One. It views the story from an interesting and original angle - "By what political process did the impulse of one man gather momentum sufficient to bring about the creation of a substantial administrative body (SILA) with a large staff and a substantial budget?"
